Comme des Garcons and Louis Vuitton Colab

You've already read about the initial project with Louis Vuitton and Comme des Garcons, but here's a sneak peek at the bags that will be released on September 4, 2008 when the French heritage label, Louis Vuitton will open a temporary concession within the Comme des Garcons store in Tokyo. The idea for the project emerged from the memories of Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo. In 1978, as a young designer, she saw the first Louis Vuitton store to open in Japan and was fascinated by the image of French craftsmanship and art de vivre it projected – a luxury that seemed to her, at the time, unattainable. Three decades on, Rei Kawakubo wanted to revisit her impressions, and so the association between Comme des Garçons and Louis Vuitton was born.

And the designs? With the iconic Monogram canvas as a starting point, Rei Kawakubo has created a limited range of bags including a timeless tote embellished with animal charms, a multi-strap mini bags and a mini pochette.

Can't wait? Take a look at our selection of Comme des Garcons fragrances, wallets and menswear available at Start!
