The runway was graced with lace on Tuesday as Miuccia Prada unveiled her Autumn Winter 08 collection in Milan. When speaking of her inspiration for the collection (a piece of lace in her study that she first chose to ignore) Prada said “I thought using a little bit here and there is tacky, so we’ve had all Switzerland working on couture lace. They’re in shock”. At first the lace came in the form of panels accenting plain tops and A-line dresses, but before we knew it, models were emerging in head to toe gowns constructed from amazingly intricate lace trimmed with bold frills. Some layered, some see-through - the variations were incredible. Erotic and powerful yet delicate at the same time.
