| Nudie Jeans The Label: Nudie Jeans is the creation of Gothenburg-based designer, Maria Erixon and is the result of her rather extensive career in the denim industry: three years as the European creative manager at Lee and ten years as an art director and clothes designer for the retail store JC. Launched in 1999, the denim brand has a celebrity cult following and perhaps most importantly has a no sweatshop factory policy. The Look: At Nudie, it’s all about the details and their attention to the nitty gritty verges on the fanatical. These include an enlarged pocket for coins (which actually makes it usable) and oversized hip pockets to flatter behinds. Equal attention has been paid to the choice of materials. Nudie is renowned for its denim washes and the label has chosen to use a more expensive, less broad denim from Japanese textile factories known as selvage denim. |
