Marc by Marc JacobsThe Designer: One of America's most successful fashion exports, Marc Jacobs graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York. Jacobs launched his namesake line in 1986 and in the following year became the youngest ever designer to be awarded the fashion industry's highest tribute, the Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.
In 2001 he launched his diffusion collection, Marc by Marc Jacobs, a label which offered comparatively affordable edgy pieces with a retro twist. Following this, his accessory lines — bags, shoes and jewellery are often proclaimed 'it' pieces by the
fashion industry worldwide. The cult label is a favourite of style
icons including the likes of Sophia Coppola.
