START has joined forces with innovative British designer Maria Grachvogel in celebration of the brand’s 20th anniversary, creating an exclusive capsule collection of unique pieces re-born from the Maria Grachvogel archive collection.
Handpicked by Brix and Maria, our archive edit includes six limited edition styles inspired by our creations from the designers 20 year career, carefully reworked by hand exclusively for START. Expect to see the brand’s signature classic silhouettes, avant-garde prints and timeless essence fused with START’s contemporary and modern style ethos.
To celebrate the exiting partnership, our boutique will play host to a special party to launch the collection, and you’re invited! Join us on Thursday 28th August from 5.30pm – 8.30pm for a unique evening of shopping, music and delicious cocktails courtesy of Martin Miller’s Gin. Meet Maria Grachvogel and Brix Smith-Start, peruse the never before seen collection and enjoy a limited edition gift with each Maria Grachvogel purchase.
The archive collection launches this Thursday and will be available to buy in store and online.
Up and coming New York designer Sandy Liang has been causing a stir of late. The arrival of the her debut collection for AW14 in store was responsible for some frenzied squeals of excitement and a stampede to the shop floor to try on everything we could get our hands on.
Sandy Liang’s design aesthetic is very much an edgy cool, but if the more avant garde shearling coats aren’t for you there are plenty of more wearable styles (we’re looking at you Bowery, a butter soft black leather jacket with a powder pink shearling collar). Liang is inspired by things that have made a lasting impression on her, from childhood memories to recently watched movies to a beloved neighbourhood. There’s a common thread running through the collection, an exploration of the duality between the feminine and the subversive sprinkled with a hint of humour. In her own words, fashion shouldn’t be taken too seriously, it’s there to make our lives a just little bit more fun.
Rarely have we seen a debut collection with such promise, and we’re thrilled to announce that as the first UK stockist, Sandy Liang is available to buy exclusively at START. The pieces will be available to order online very soon, but if you can’t wait you can shop the edit in store or via telephone, just give our Customer Service Team a call on +44 (0) 207 033 3951 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.]]>

These intarsia knitted sweaters emblazoned with quirky slogans have earned Bella Freud a cult celebrity following, counting cool kids Alexa Chung, Kate Moss and Alison Mosshart as her biggest fans. Add a touch of the brand’s tongue and cheek philosophy to your home with one of the Bella Freud candles, each a delicious mix of scents that make for great gifts too!

As part of the G:Lab limited edition programme, Grenson and START have joined creative forces to design the Alice Chelsea Boots, a collaboration that marries the heritage appeal of Grenson with START’s contemporary sense of fun. Each pair is only one of eleven produced by hand in Northampton, so you know your investing in a pair of boots that are not only exclusive but are expertly crafted by artisans.
The heatwave has hit us hard this summer, and while there are no complaints from us on this score it’s sometimes hard to dress for the weather. One thing we can all agree on is the benefit of a chic sandal for keeping cool, and we’re especially loving Ancient Greek Sandals. Spotted on the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Candice Swanepoel, Jessica Alba and even Harper Beckham, Ancient Greeks are a summertime failsafe.
Season after season Isabel Marant Étoile never fails to offer effortless collections boasting a perfect blend of relaxed tailoring and bohemian detailing. For AW14 indulge in statement sweaters, patchwork denim and luxurious knitwear you’ll never want to take off.
Our edit of Isabel Marant Étoile is available to buy in store or via telephone order on +44 (0) 207 033 3951. Please email email@example.com for more information about the collection.]]>
This weekend is almost upon us (hip hip hurray!) and it’s set to be a scorcher! If you’re stuck for something to do why not stop by the Rivington St for ‘A Fete Worse Than Death‘?
The event marks the 20th anniversary of the first ‘A Fete Worse Than Death’ and celebrates the life and work of ‘Factual Nonsense‘ founder Joshua Compston, a man responsible in part for making Hoxton the vibrant, bustling destination we know and love today.
Mimicking the event Joshua hosted in 1993/94 where Damian Hirst and Angus Fairhurst created the first spin paintings (selling for 50p!), there will be artists manning stalls along Rivington St bringing their art to the public. There will also be an exhibition of ‘Factual Nonsense’ and contemporary art at RED Gallery.]]>
